GET YOUR HEART CHECKED
29 September 2026
Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your heart. Every class you come to, every walk on the treadmill and every set in the gym is helping.
But even if you’re training every week, it’s still a good idea to get your heart checked by your GP. Being fit doesn’t mean you can skip the check-up.
What’s a Heart Health Check?
It’s a 20-minute appointment with your GP. Your doctor will check your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar, talk about your lifestyle and family history, and work out your risk of a heart attack or stroke over the next five years.
Find out more about Heart Health Checks on the Heart Foundation website.
Listen to your body
If you don’t feel well, check with your doctor before you come back to class. And if you ever feel chest pain or tightness, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath or faint while you’re training, stop straight away and tell one of our instructors. If it’s severe or doesn’t go away, call 000.
Keep moving with us
We have classes for all ages and fitness levels, including Heartmoves and Actives for our seniors. Not sure where to start? Have a chat to our staff and we’ll help you find the right class.
Book your Heart Health Check, then come and see us. Your heart will thank you for both.
